About This Episode

With the city’s real estate booming as never before, the challenge of housing 21st century New Yorkers is daunting. The city estimates that we will need 265,000 more housing units by 2030. Shampa Chanda (http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcas/html/resources/leadership_photos07.shtml), Assistant Commissioner for Planning for the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (http://www.nyc.gov/html/hpd/html/home/home.shtml), will outline the Bloomberg administration’s housing initiatives as part of its comprehensive plaNYC. Where will this new housing go, what will it look like, and who will be living there? This event was held at the General Society for Mechanics and Tradesmen of the City of New York (www.generalsociety.org/).
